Making Time

"Everything changed the day she figured out there was exactly enough time for the important things in her life." -Brian Andreas, StoryPeople
These first two weeks of Fall Quarter have had me feeling OVERWHELMED! There's so much to do, but more than that, so much to think about, so much that requires reflection. I've been fighting resuming my blogging, feeling that there's not enough TIME to carefully and fully reflect. I've been turning down opportunities to spend time with my cohort, feeling that there's not enough TIME.

Today, it struck me that I simply MUST MAKE TIME for the things that are really important. Reflection and Professional Community came up in almost every paper I've written so far as critical aspects to being an effective teacher. I must make the time for these essential activities! With that in mind, I am committing to this time on Sunday afternoons to reflective blogging. So, I've freshened up the look of my blog and I'm ready to get back to active reflection. I am also really looking forward to breakfast tomorrow morning with my cohort - I hear we have a pancake topping bar waiting for us!

  1. I am also looking forward to breakfast! I've been thinking about the toppings bar all day... nom, nom.

On a serious note,I also feel extremely overwhelmed this quarter. It seems that there is a never-ending stream of practical experiences and homework. So, it is seems difficult to set aside time for reflection.

However, reflection is a key tool for personal and professional growth. Thus, I am attempting to write down my thoughts as they occur to increase awareness and promote reflection.

  2. I hear you when you say "OVERWHELMED!" I have been having the same feeling that there isn't enough time to reflect fully as I would like to. But you are right, there is enough time to do the important things in life. I like your idea of allocating specific time for this commitment.
