OK - Here goes learning to tag my posts! Yay me!
I admit I was nervous about the technology requirements in this quarter and this program, but I am definitely coming around! - This stuff is amazing! Google Reader, Digital Storytelling, Google Docs ... What awesome tools to help us connect with our students, with each other and to put our message our there into the public conversation!
One note of caution, however ... even amazing technology is not a substitute for great teachers. If we look at a kite as a metaphor for teaching and technology as one of the strings allowing it to fly ... there still needs to be someone holding the string. Someone to adjust the length when the wind blows too strong or not strong enough. Someone to get the kite back up in the air when it falls from the sky (and dry the accompanying tears). Teachers are necessary now more than ever to help students make sense of all the information that is available to them.
